Lionel Richie: Stuck On You

“Stuck on You” is a song written by and originally recorded by Lionel Richie. It was the fourth single released from his second studio album Can’t Slow Down released on May 1, 1984, by Motown, and achieved chart success, particularly in the U.S. and the UK, where it peaked at number three and number 12, respectively. The song differs from Richie’s other compositions, as it displays a country pop influence rather than R&B.[1] As such, the single’s cover photo shows Richie wearing a cowboy hat, and indeed, “Stuck on You” peaked at number 24 on the country chart.[2] “Stuck on You” reached number one on the Adult Contemporary chart, Richie’s seventh chart topper.[3] The song marks Lionel Richie’s country music debut.

IT’S (HIGH) TIME – Itt az ideje/Legfőbb ideje, hogy …

“It’s (high) time” kifejezést többféleképpen is használhatjuk:

a) Jöhet utána közvetlenül az alany, akire vonatkozik a mondat, ebben az esetben a jelen időt (a kötőmód – subjunctive miatt) egyszerű múlt idővel (Past Simple) fejezzük ki.Ebben az esetben azt is sugallja a mondat, hogy, bár itt az ideje valaminek, valószínűleg már késő bármit is tenni.Például:

It’s time you went to bed. You’ll have to get up early tomorrow.– Itt az ideje, hogy lefeküdj aludni. Holnap korán kell kelned.
It’s high time I bought a new pair of jeans.– Itt az ideje, hogy vegyek egy új farmer.
It’s about time this road was completed. They’ve been working on it for months. – Itt az ideje, hogy befejezzék végre az út javítását. Már hónapok óta dolgoznak rajta

b) Ha szertetnék azt sugallni, hogy itt az ideje valaminek, és még van idő arra, hogy megtegyü, illetve ha nem mondjuk meg, hogy kinek kéne valamit csinálnia, hanem általánosságban beszélünk, akkor a következő szerkezetet használjuk:

It’s time (for somebody) to do something

It’s time (for you) to go to bed.– Itt az ideje, hogy ágyba menj.
It’s time to say goodbye. – Itt az idő elbúcsúzni.
It’s time for breakfast.– Itt az idő reggelizni.
