A következő szókincsfejlesztő leckével - amely hasznos lehet a szóbeli nyelvvizsgára való felkészülésben is - a sport témakört tekintjük át részletesen.
Sport plays an important role in people’s life. Some people do sport, some watch it only, but there are few people who just don’t care and aren’t interested in it in either way. You can do individual sports and team sports. A team sport is usually a sort of game that requires physical activity and involves a degree of competition as well, for example, football, baseball, bowling, or basketball. Most people, however, play sports with their friends just for fun. In professional sport you need coaches to teach or train teams or individuals how to perform better. Sports can be played indoors or outdoors, and there are also seasonal sports like sledging, skating or skiing in winter or sailing in summer.
People who are keen on watching sports are called fans. Some fans are couch potatoes and only watch sports on television in their own bedroom, others prefer going to stadiums or sports halls where they can watch and support their team or favourite sportsmen or sportswomen. Team sports bring people together, cheering a team is a great feeling and it’s even greater when your team wins. There are regular sports events that attract a great number of fans and supporters. Every fourth year the Olympic Games are held in different parts of the world providing weeks of various sports events to watch on television or if you are lucky enough and canafford to travel, you can watch the events live on the spot. Nothing beats the experience of listening to the national anthem played in respect of your own country after the victory of someone of your own nation.
Football tournamentsalso attract a lot of fans from all over the world and can make their countries very proud when their national team wins.
People can engage in several kinds of sports, for example:
– water sports (swimming, water polo, kayaking, canoeing, sailing, diving, rowing, surfing, water skiing)
– ball games (football, handball, basketball, volleyball, baseball, floorball, rugby, golf, ice hockey, tennis)
– motor sports (Formula One, Moto GP)
– field sports (hunting, fishing, shooting)
– track and field sports (athletics/running, jumping, throwing, decathlon)
– combat sports (karate, judo, boxing, wrestling)
– extreme sports (bungee jumping, white water rafting, hang gliding, paragliding)
You can do sports in a gymnasium or gym, in a sports hall, in a stadium, in an arena, or on a sports field. The sports field has different names based on what kind of sport you play on it. You play football, rugby or baseball on a pitch, basketball, badminton, volleyball, squash, tennis on a court, and golf on a course. Boxing and wrestling take place in a ring, while ice hockey and skating on a rink. A pool is the place for diving, swimming and water polo, and a ski run for skiing or snowboarding.
The kind of sport equipment you use obviously depends on what sport you take up. Good equipment is important to give you protection and to help you perform better.
Working outand doing sports keep you fit and give you energy. Moreover, sport helps you watch your weight or lose some weight if you are a bit overweight. If going to training sessions is not really your world and you prefer doing some sport on your own, you might try jogging, running or fast walking. Cycling is also a good way of exercising. While riding your bike you are in the fresh air and pedalling and enjoying your speed can actually be a relaxing and refreshing experience.
The most popular sports in Hungary are football, water polo, swimming, kayak, canoe, fencing and handball. 2016 is the year of the Olympic Games. Millions of people are going to watch hundreds of sports events live or on television and share the happiness of golden, silver or bronze medal winners.
