FAST FOOD RESTAURANTS
Unless you are in a particularly remote area, you can’t go far in the world without finding a fast food restaurant. A fast food restaurant is a place where food is prepared and served quickly. Customers can choose from a limited menu as the food is cooked in bulk in advance and kept hot, then packaged to order. People usually take away their orders but generally seating is also provided in most restaurants. Fast food restaurants are usually a part of a restaurant chain which means that you can eat exactly the same food everywhere in the world.
The kitchen of a fast food restaurant looks rather different from a restaurant kitchen. In a fast food restaurant the kitchen’s purpose is to make a very large amount of food quickly. In the kitchen there is usually a large grill where one person could cook lots of burgers simultaneously, a dressing station where people add the same condiments to the burgers, a fryer where one person makes French fries, a soda fountain and a milkshake machine for desserts and beverages and a counter where customers place and receive their orders.
Even though nowadays you can find a vast variety of fast food restaurants, they have quite a few things in common: you order and receive your food at a counter, the food is individually wrapped and put in a bag or served on a tray, you can eat most of the food without cutlery, the food is relatively cheap.

A fast casual restaurant
A fast casual restaurant is a type of restaurant that doesn’t offer full table service, but promises a higher quality of food and atmosphere than a fast food restaurant. This type of restaurant did not become popular and common until the early to mid-1990s, and did not truly become mainstream until 2007, when due to the economic downturn people discovered this cheaper but still enjoyable way of dining.
Street vendors, catering trucks
Traditional street food is available around the world, usually from small operators and independent vendors operating from a cart, table, portable grill or motor vehicle. The most common street food offers include Vietnamese noodle vendors, Middle Eastern falafel stands, New York City hot dog carts, and taco trucks.
