So proud of you! Tom Hanks thanks his son Colin for making him a granddad again as the family celebrate Independence Day
Tom Hanks spent some quality time on the Fourth of July with his actor son Colin who recently welcomed his second daughter. The 56-year-old Tom was spotted giving his 35-year-old son a big hug at a holiday beach party in Malibu, California. Colin and his wife Samantha Bryant announced Tuesday that she gave birth to a baby girl they’ve named Charlotte Bryant. The couple also have a two-year-old daughter named Olivia Jane who was born in February 2011 about nine months after they wed. Colin followed in his father’s footsteps and also took up acting. His credits include a starring role in the 2002 movie Orange County and a minor part in the 2005 remake of King Kong. He also has appeared on the cable shows Mad Men and Dexter. Colin and Samantha kept the pregnancy a secret and announced it in April at the premiere of Nora Ephron’s final play Lucky Guy that featured his famous father. July 4 is a public holiday in the United States and arguably one of the most enthusiastically celebrated by U.S. citizens. The day marks the moment in history when America broke free from the rule of the British Empire. It was on July 4, 1776, that the Declaration of Independence was adopted by delegates to the Second Continental Congress in Philadelphia. The change came amidst great political upheaval during the American Revolution in which 13 North American colonies joined forces to legally separate from Great Britain after rejecting royalist rule. The British Sovereign of the time was King George III.
