Pet owners worried about leaving their dogs at home indoors all day can now feel less guilty – by buying a robot that exercises them while they are at work. The Smart Pet Robot ‘plays’ with the animal, encouraging it to be chased around the home and offering treats as a reward for the pet doing exercise.
The £75 device – which launched in the UK in February – is designed with sensors so it turns automatically before it hits an obstacle and can last up to ten hours before it needs recharging.
It can be controlled manually using a smartphone app or can be customised to automatically turn on and move around when the owner sets it to.
The revolutionary robot comes as half of the British pet owners admitted they feel guilty leaving their dogs at home for a long period of time, a survey from natural pet supplement YuCALM from Lintbells revealed.
More than one in ten arrange for a dog sitter to go to their home to keep them company while they are at work, and 24 percent have asked a friend to drop in to spend time with their pet.
On average pets will spend two hours and 47 minutes at home alone every day.
