Iron Maiden launch their own beer

Heavy metal legends Iron Maiden turned into a pub band yesterday — by launching their own beer. The cask ale — called Trooper after one of their songs — is to go on sale at boozers in Cheshire, where it is brewed. Singer Bruce Dickinson, 54, said the group is aiming to roll it out nationwide and across the world. Headbangers will be able to buy bottles of the 4.7 per cent strength beer at gigs after the veteran rockers teamed up with Stockport brewers Robinson. Dickinson said: “Iron Maiden is something quintessentially British — so we said we should be doing a real ale.” The frontman backed The Sun’s crusade for a beer tax cut, adding: “We have to satisfy the thirst of Iron Maiden fans around the world — and there’s a lot of them.” The move follows brands of wine from fellow rockers AC/DC — including Back in Black Shiraz — and Motorhead Vodka.
