They were two of the biggest stars of their day, and it seems that is still the case – although in a different way. But Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill’s rotund sizes are causing concern among producers on the new Star Wars movie, who have reportedly decided to employ top nutritionists and fitness trainers to help whip the actors into shape. The pair, who played Princess Leia and Luke Skywalker in the world-famous movies 36 years ago, have been struggling with their weight over the past few years. And movie bosses are said to be concerned that their larger figures are too far away from their original appearances in the films. A source told The Sun: ‘Mark and Carrie need to be as close to their appearance in the earlier movies as possible. Producers are keen to help out and have offered support. ‘The budget is huge so there will be no expense spared.’ Carrie, who once tipped the scales at 180lbs, has frequently spoken about her struggles with her size, and has been a yo-yo dieter for many years. In 2011, Carrie wowed fans when she unveiled a sleek new look after losing 50lbs. But less than a year later, the weight was all back on. In a recent interview, Carrie admitted she would have to lose weight to reprise her role as Luke’s sister, hinting that she may even wear her character’s famous gold bikini again. She said last month: ‘I’m glad they are doing a new movie because they are sending a trainer to my house so I can get in really good shape. ‘So I’m really eating a lot of sugar in advance, as you can see. By the time I really get down to it I will have eaten everything.’ Hamill, meanwhile, was seen chowing down on a burger and chips as he headed out in Los Angeles last month, looking significantly larger than he has before. One person who won’t be needing the help of a trainer or nutritionist, however, is Harrison Ford, who is still in great shape despite being 70 years old. Star Wars: Episode VII is due for release in 2015, and will be helmed by Star Trek director JJ Abrams.
