Paul McCartney swarmed by grasshoppers at Brazil gig: the Beatles legend gets attacked by insects during a show in Goiania, Brazil
Paul McCartney was attacked by a swarm of grasshoppers at a gig in Brazil on Monday (May 6). The Beatles legend was on stage at Goiania’s Serra Dourada Stadium, when the Esperanca Grilo grasshoppers flew onto the stage. One remained on his shoulder for the majority of the three hour show. Introducing the insect to the 47,000 strong crowd as Harold, McCartney then performed ‘Hey Jude’, adding the remark "it certainly is now" after the lyric "the movement you need is on your shoulder." The gig was part of McCartney’s Out There! tour, which opened in Brazil this week and will visit six countries, including the US, Poland, Italy, Austria and Canada. During the shows so far, the singer has been playing a career-spanning setlist including songs never performed live before, such as ‘Being For The Benefit Of Mr Kite‘ and ‘All Together Now’. The Out There! tour continues at Fortaleza’s Castelao Stadium, Brazil (May 9).
