Barman: Good afternoon! What would you like to drink?
Man: Hi, I am looking for a traditional English pint of beer for myself and can I have a cider for my wife?
Barman: Of course Sir. I can recommend the “Speckled Hen” which is a light draught bitter, very popular with the locals. The beer is on tap. Is a bottle of cider okay?  We don’t have it on draught.
Man: Okay. I will have that and also a small whiskey. The weather is very cold so I need something to warm me up.
Barman: I can recommend the Kilbeggan Irish Whiskey. It is from a small distillery in Ireland. It has a soft honey-sweet taste and is quite easy to drink.
Man: Go on make it a double; I am on holidays after all. But don’t tell the wife! I hope I don’t get drunk, the wife doesn’t like it. I can get quite boisterous!
Barman: Okay Sir, that’s one pint of bitter, a bottle of cider and a double whiskey. That will be 8 pounds fifty please.
Man: Have one yourself!
Barman: Thanks, I will have it later.

In England instead of tips, which are not common, a customer will say “Have one yourself“. This means a bar person can take the price of a drink for example £3.00 for a pint, which acts like a tip. The bar person can keep the money once they have balanced their account at the end of their shift. In the old days the bar person could accept a free drink from a customer, usually for good service but nowadays it is forbidden in most places to drink while you are working! Otherwise there would be a lot of drunk bar staff!
