10 Things That Chinese Have More Of Than Americans

Here are 10 things that China has more of than the US.

China clearly has way more people and a much greater landmass than the US, but that’s not all the country has to brag about.

Here are 10 things that China has more of than the US.

Number 10. Submarines. Based on the report of a top US Naval commander China has done some serious fleet expanding. It’s estimated the nation now has a submarine count that’s somewhere in the low 70s, while the US lags just a bit behind at 71.

Number 9. GDP. The large nation’s economy has grown significantly over the years and now stands as the world’s largest. That top spot was formerly occupied by the US, which held it for 14 long decades. Some question the validity of the figures, while others say it’s been a long time coming.

Number 8. High-roller tourists. When people from China travel, they spend big. In fact, they spend more than tourists from any other country. According to research done by China UnionPay accommodations, dining, and entertainment are among their largest expenditures.

Number 7. Trade. China has dominated the category of exports for years, but in 2013 the nation was identified as being the largest trader of goods overall. That announcement was based on 2012 import and export figures, which showed that though both the US and China approached the 4 trillion dollar mark, China got a little closer to it.

Number 6. Cement usage. Based on Bill Gates’ calculations, in just 3 years the country managed to go through more of the building material than the US did throughout the entire 20th century.

Number 5. Online Users. China has more people accessing the Internet than the US has people. It’s estimated that roughly 650 million individuals in the Asian nation are connected, which is about 2 times the population of the United States at large

Number 4. Robots. It hasn’t happened just yet, but it is predicted that by 2017 the country will be the world leader in the use of production robotics. By then it will have likely eclipsed even South Korea, the nation that currently has the most mechanical workers per number of human ones.

Number 3. College graduates. Thanks to generous government subsidies, Chinese youths are pursuing higher education in record numbers. Each year, about 8 million of them successfully complete their academic programs. The US has an average of 3 million graduates annually, but enrollment has dropped in recent years.

Number 2. Gold. Be it the mining, importing, or buying of it, the Chinese are one of the leaders of the commodity. Retail sales and investment acquisitions have escalated significantly, making the country’s citizens among the largest gold consumers in the world.

Number 1. Skyscrapers. According to a 2012 report, by 2017 there will be over 800 very tall buildings dominating the skylines of the mainland. At that time the count in the US will likely be around 540. Five years beyond that, the numbers are expected to be roughly 1300 and 560, respectively.
